What we mean by sensitive information

Because we deliver a health service, most information we collect about a participant is treated as health information, which is a type of sensitive information under the Privacy Act. Sensitive information has stronger protections. We only collect it where it is reasonably necessary to provide our services, and, other than where the law allows otherwise, with consent.

How you can interact with this website

There are three ways this site collects information. We describe each below.

1. Making a referral (Splose form)

Our referral page contains a form that is operated by Splose, a third-party practice-management provider, and displayed on our site inside an embedded frame. When you complete that form, the information you enter is sent to and stored by Splose on our behalf. It does not pass through or stay on this website.

A referral typically includes details about a participant (such as name and contact details), the referrer, and information about the participant’s disability, support needs, and circumstances. This is sensitive health information. By submitting the form you are providing it to us, through Splose, so that we can assess and respond to the referral.

Splose handles this information under its own privacy and security arrangements. If you would prefer not to use the online form, you can refer by phone on 1800 123 654 or by email to hello@beaconway.com.au.

2. Sending feedback or a complaint (with your details)

Our feedback page has a form, hosted on this website, that you can choose to complete with your contact details. If you do, we collect your name, email, phone number, your relationship to Beacon Way Therapy, the type of feedback, your message, and how you would like us to respond. We use this to respond to you and to improve our services. This information is stored in our website system and sent to us by email.

3. Sending feedback anonymously

The same feedback form lets you choose to submit anonymously. If you choose this, we do not ask for your name, email, phone, or relationship, and we cannot respond to you directly. We collect only the type of feedback and your message. Submitting anonymously is your right, and the form is set up so this option collects no identifying details.

A note on free-text fields

Any free-text box (for example the feedback details field) may contain personal or health information if you choose to include it, even when you submit anonymously. Please share only what you are comfortable providing. We handle anything you do share as described on this page.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising cookies, marketing pixels, analytics that identify you, session recording, or location or demographic profiling. The site sets a small number of essential cookies needed for it to work and to manage its cache. The embedded Splose referral form is provided by a third party and may set its own cookies within that form; those are governed by Splose’s own arrangements.

We use Plausible Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people find and move through our site, for example whether visitors reach our referral page. This includes counting clicks on links that lead away from our site, such as to our referral form, so we can see whether people reach the referral pathway. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track or identify individual visitors. It does not follow you across other websites.

When we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only where needed to provide our services or where the law requires or allows, for example with Splose as our referral form provider, and where relevant with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your feedback, you can contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission on 1800 035 544 or at ndiscommission.gov.au.

Keeping information secure and accurate

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, and to keep it accurate and up to date. You can ask us to correct information we hold about you.

Accessing your information, or making a complaint

You can ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy, or raise a privacy concern, by contacting us on 1800 123 654 or hello@beaconway.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
