About Beacon Way

A family practice.

A local Adelaide family who have lived on both sides of the NDIS, initially as parents and later as providers.

Our story

How Beacon Way came about.

Beacon Way Therapy was recently founded by Adrianne and Michael, a South Australian family with both lived experience of the NDIS and past history of operating within it.

Our journey began nearly two decades ago when our son was diagnosed with autism at age two, and later with severe intellectual disability. Over time we found ourselves navigating an overwhelming system with very little guidance. That experience of searching for the right supports, the right practitioners, and the right answers shapes everything we do.

Over the years, Adrianne and Michael have owned and operated businesses across plan management and allied health therapy within the NDIS sector. That background gives us a practical understanding of how the sector works, its strengths, its gaps, and what families genuinely need but don’t always find.

Beacon Way Therapy is a practice grounded in lived experience, built with purpose, and focused entirely on the people we support and the networks around them.

Clinical manager

Rachelle Browne

Rachelle leads Beacon Way’s behaviour support work. She works collaboratively with the individual, their support network and all providers throughout behaviour support services and in the development of every plan.

One of her continuing focuses is helping families navigate behaviours of concern within their day-to-day life while still maintaining positive relationships as a family.

Rachelle is an Advanced-level NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner with a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) from Flinders University and more than ten years across direct practice, clinical supervision and behaviour support leadership. She has experience holding Authorised Program Officer responsibilities for regulated restrictive practices.

Beacon Way is built around clinical supervision, professional development and collaboration between practitioners. Rachelle also provides ongoing supervision to behaviour support practitioners across Australia.

How we work

Five things we hold ourselves to.

Function first. Behaviours communicate need. We focus on understanding what a person needs and work together to find positive, sustainable ways to meet those needs.

Quality over quantity. We intentionally maintain small caseloads so we can provide the time, attention and support each person deserves. If we can’t give the level of support you need, we will be honest with you and help you find someone who can.

Plans that get used. The plan is written for the family, the support workers, the SIL team. Not for the file. If you can’t implement it, we haven’t done our job.

Reducing restrictions. Restrictive practices should never be a long-term solution. We will work together to develop and implement a staged reduction strategy that promotes safety, independence and quality of life.

No quiet months. You’ll hear from us regularly, not just at review!
